Hello friends!

Today we bring details of some fine providers of the victuals and libations that await you at the VIP reception for SFVW 2017!  These kindred spirits embody the principles of ‘slow food’ and intentional beverage, with quality that you notice with the first taste, nay, the first scent!

First, from Whole Ox Butchers, the founders of the feast:

“The Aim is not simply to aid in the pursuit of hedonistic pleasure, but rather to encourage appreciation of a slower, more meditative lifestyle based on respect for the soul, the seasons, and deeply rooted cultures capable of producing not only great food and wine, but also a saner and more tolerant world view and way of life.”

All the food they serve is sustainable, ethically farmed, and humanely raised, or, as they like to put it, made with love.

However, food alone does not a feast make. Enter Pen Druid Brewing, who grace our VIP reception with a custom brew specially crafted for SFVW.

All VIP guests will receive an engraved pilsner glass stein to take home! If you can’t make it to the VIP reception, be sure to check out our auction items for a chance to snag a case to bring home!

Founded by the brothers Carney, and named for their family farm in Rappahannock County;, Pen Druid Brewing is born of passion for and experience of local brewing culture across North America and Europe, and matured over nearly a decade of musical travel.  Over a year ago, this wisdom came home to the Virginia Piedmont, bringing a focus on mixed and wild fermentation, barrel fermenting and aging, and spontaneous fermentation to the burgeoning Virginia beer scene.  Fermenting with a “cocktail of wild yeasts and bacteria” from their own Virginia Piedmont, Pen Druid Brewing takes “local” to a whole new level!

If you want to personally experience the joy of local food and drink, don’t wait! Secure your spot at the VIP reception, and get your ticket now. (Note: You will then only have to wait just a few more weeks. There’s not really anything we can do about that. Sorry.)

More soon!
